You Ask - I Answer
WHAT IS FUTURE-FOCUSED THERAPY?
Your past experiences have shaped you, but they do not define you.
Often we dwell on what has happened to us, why it happened, and how it made us feel. Whilst this has huge value and is important in personal healing and gaining an understanding on why we are the way we are, rehashing the past with you is not what I do. Too much focus on re-living past trauma, laying blame, or going over and over the events of our history keeps us stuck in the past and limits our ability to realise our potential. Your back story is important, and some time reflecting is essential, but we will not stay there for long.
I hope to help get you from where you are right now, to where you want to be. We will treat your past with respect and acceptance, and then let it go, so that you can focus on the future you want to create.
WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU DO?
Much like a counselling session, I listen and reflect. Unlike standard counselling sessions however, I take a less passive approach.
I will challenge, question, encourage and stretch you. We confront your limiting beliefs and over time, install new healthy ones. I may give you exercises and sometimes homework. We meet your internal resistance and question it. We tackle self sabotage rather than accepting it as the status quo. We work together to strengthen the parts of you that are going to help you move forward, and separate you from the ones that are holding you back. Hypnosis can also be used to assist in confronting and correcting deep rooted negative self belief as can breathing techniques ad meditation to restore calm and presence.
HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Each session lasts 50 minutes and costs £35. Initial consultations are 30 minutes and free.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THIS IS RIGHT THERAPY FOR ME?
Opening up to a stranger can be strange and challenging and this type of therapy is not suited to everyone. Establishing trust and a good relationship between client and therapist is a key element to a successful outcome.
I can guarantee you a safe, respectful, non judgemental, and complete confidential space in which you can begin to take on the incredibly important work of knowing and understanding yourself better.
If however, I feel that you would be better suited to a different type of therapy, or you have needs or underlying issues that I feel I would be better treated elsewhere, I will assist you in finding alternative treatment as best I can.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
I currently work from a therapy studio in Tenterden, Kent on Thursdays. If you are outside the area and would like to book, Skype appointments are also available. Please use the contact me form to request more details or message me using the link on the facebook page.
